Frequently Asked Questions

HAIR EXTENSION QUESTIONS

How much do Hair Extensions cost?
Prices for Hair Extensions are by consultation only.
Our prices are in the main menu, however you will need a consultation to establish the most suitable application method for you and the amount of extension hair you will need.

The hair is ordered to each client's individual requirements, such as length, texture and colour. We offer such a vast range of application methods which come in varying lengths and muliple colours - it is impossible to hold stock in such large quantities.

Do Hair Extensions damage your hair?
There are two people involved in the care of your hair - The Hair Extensions Technician and you, The Client.

During your consultation we will go a thorough assessment of your hair and scalp. You will have been asked to complete a consultation form which asks important questions relating to your hair, scalp, medical history and lifestyle.
It is your responsibility as a client to answer these questions honestly as this will establish your suitability to have extensions applied.

Correctly applied hair extensions will not cause any damage to your hair. If the correct size attachments are used and placed at the correct distance from the scalp, the extensions will not cause any strain or pulling of your natural hair. It is the responsibility of the technician to ensure this procedure is followed.

Aftercare - Following the application you will be shown how to look after and maintain your extensions.  We have extensive aftercare guides relating to the different application methods which you can find in the main menu. These are an excellent resource.
You will be given a complete aftercare kit containing the essential aftercare products and a hair extension brush to ensure you leave our salon with correct & recommended aftercare to keep your extensions in perfect condition.
It is a requirement you use the recommended products at all times.
We carry the full aftercare products for you to purchase in salon or online.

It is your responsibility as a client to follow the very simple aftercare regime, in particular the correct brushing technique, to prevent pulling or matting in fine hair. (This is not a complex technique - it is how all long hair should be brushed!)

How long will it take?
This will depend on the application method being fitted & the service being carried out. (1/2 Head, Full Head etc) You will be told at your consultation how long to expect the application to take.

How long will they last?
This will depend on the application method fitted & your natural hair loss pattern / shed rate.
There is an explaination on each method and how long each should be worn for before needing removal or refitting.
Details on each hair range also explain how long the actual extension hair should last before being replaced.
Poor aftercare can also shorten the lifespan of your extensions.

Where does the hair come from?
Great Lengths hair is ethically sourced from the temples in India.
Indian women offer to donate their hair prior to marriage and other rituals.  As their hair is rarely exposed to chemical processes, it is the best quality hair, in it's natural condition.  Great Lengths purchase the hair at a Fairtrade price & the revenue the Indian Temples receive is re-invested back into the community for projects and infrastructure.

Remi Cachet Elegance Hair is sourced from small villages bordering Russia and Kazakhstan. The donors are paid a fair price and the money is paid directly to each donor.  Only the highest quality Virgin hair is selected. (Untouched and not chemically treated)
This is transported to the Remi Cachet factory for processing.

Remi Cachet Prestige and our Bronze Deluxe range is Indian Temple hair. The hair is purchased from a reputable factory who will have a contract with a hair buyer linked to the temple.
Sadly his cannot be guaranteed that the temple the buyer purchases from ensures the money goes back into the local infrastructure.
Only the highest grade Virgin hair is purchased.

Strand loss is normal and to be expected during the course of wear.

Yes, all cards accepted

I'm pregnant, can I have extensions fitted?
Unfortunately we do not fit extensions on women who are pregnant or for up to 6 months post birth.  This is due to the rise and fall of the hormonal levels during pregnancy which can have an adverse effect on the hair.
Following birth some women can experience post pregnancy shedding, this is a completely natural process and although it can be very distressing it will return to normal. Applying extensions in a woman who has recently given birth can accelerate the shedding process. (Breast feeding may delay the process so your wait may need to be longer)
We are happy to see ladies for a consultation and discuss any concerns post pregnancy and discuss the options available.

I lost my hair through Chemotherapy but it has begun to grow back. Can I have extensions fitted?
Chemotherapy drugs can remain within the system long after treatment has ceased.
The root area of your hair could still be weak and adding weight to this may cause your hair to shed.
Generally we can consider fitting extensions 12 months after treatment ceased.  We work closely with clients and start by applying to test strands before proceding to a full application.

I have purchased my own hair extensions, can you fit them?
We will only fit extensions we have supplied as this guarantees the quality of the hair. If any issues arise with the hair we can return to the manufacturer as we will have a purchase contract with them.

Im wearing extensions fitted elsewhere, could I book in to have them removed?
Unfortunately we do not remove extensions fitted elsewhere.
It is in your best interest to return to the Extensionist who initially fitted your Extensions as they will have knowledge of your hair and scalp prior to fitting, therefore they will be able to recognise any changes.
If there are any adverse changes or concerns then the matter can be addressed directly without the question of damage occuring by being removed elsewhere.
Your service contact is with the salon / extensionist and it is only fair the salon / extensionist be given the opportunity to complete the service until completion.
In exceptional circumstances such as relocation of yourself or extensionist where returning is not possible, will we consider a removal.

I have had extensions fitted elsewhere and Im really not happy with them. Could you take a look?
You must return to the salon / extensionist who fitted your extensions and raise any concerns with them. It is only fair to give them the opportunity to rectify any issues you experience. We will not enter into discussions concerning third parties.

My blonde extensions have turned a pinky orange colour.
